One
day Jesus,have to feed five thousand people, all men excluding women and
children. A boy gave Him 7 pieces of bread
and 2 fishes. Considering the
number of people who need food, that contribution was not enough. But because
he had compassion, his heart was so moved with pity seeing how hungry the
people were. And he cannot send them
home for fear many will collapse on the
way.
And Jesus did not like that to happen.
And so, Jesus performed this miracle of multiplying the 7 pieces of bread and 2 fishes. He took
the bread, gave thanks and gave them out
to all who were sitting ready,then he did the same to the fish, giving out as
much as was needed. And they were all satisfied. Jesus used his power to
perform the miracle. And what was the reaction
of the people? They were amazed, they said, "This really is the prophet
who is to come into the world.” (Jn.6:15) They even wanted to make him
king, thinking that if he becomes their
King, they will not have difficulty in providing for their food. They will just
let Jesus perform the miracle of
multiplying food, they wanted him to use his power for their own ends . But
Jesus escaped back to the hills by himself (Jn 6:15)
In fact, si Jesus ay lumulan sa isang maliit na bangka upang pumunta sa kabilang dako subalit pagdating niya doon, the people were already
there waiting for Him. And ang mga tao ,
when they saw Jesus nahalata Niya kung
ano ‘yong kanilang intentions--he told them, “ I tell you most solemnly,you are
not looking for me because you have seen signs but because you had all the
bread you wanted to eat. Do not work for the food that perishes, but work for
the food that will not perish and that will give you life
everlasting”.(Jn.6:27)
